Biography

Steve “Scoop” Williams is a Dalton, Georgia attorney and managing partner at McCamy, Phillips, Tuggle & Fordham, LLP. He has practiced law since 1976 and is AV Preeminent-rated. A former elected District Attorney, he has tried nearly 400 civil and criminal jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts and is known for thorough preparation and aggressive jury advocacy.

His practice includes criminal defense (from traffic matters to capital murder) and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases. He has handled numerous car wreck and premises liability claims, including settlements over $100,000 and wrongful death recoveries exceeding $1,000,000.

Williams earned a B.B.A. (1973) and J.D. (1976) from the University of Georgia, has practiced in Dalton since 1977, and previously served as Assistant DA and then District Attorney (appointed by the Governor and later elected). He has also been active in civic and community roles, including service on the Dalton Board of Education (chair for eight years, term ending Dec. 31, 2013) and as City Attorney for Chatsworth, Georgia.
