Mr., William P. Hessney, Jr

William P. Hessney is Special Counsel with Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP in its Albany, NY office, and has been practicing law for over 40 years. He has a broad based real estate practice, representing buyers, sellers and lenders in both residential and commercial transactions, for which he has extensive experience in contract drafting and negotiation, document preparation and title examination. He has represented lenders and creditors in mortgage foreclosure matters and related litigation in State and Federal Courts throughout the State of New York. His practice also includes the formation and representation of corporations, not-for-profit corporations and limited liability companies in the Capital District.

Over the years William P. Hessney has participated in a number of continuing legal education programs. They include being the chair and speaker for the Albany Session of the NY State Bar Association Seminar on Practical Skills-Mortgage Foreclosures and Workouts, from 2004 to 2018, a coauthor and speaker for the seminar entitled New York Real Estate Title Law: Solutions to the Most Common Problems in 2004, coauthor and speaker for the seminar entitled Effective Mortgage Foreclosure Techniques in New York in 1994 and the coauthor and speaker for the seminar entitled New York Foreclosure and Repossession in 1993.

Born and raised in Canandaigua, New York, William P. Hessney has made the Capital District his home for more than 40 years with his family. He has served on the boards of a number not-for-profit organizations including serving for many years as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Hart Cluett Museum in Troy, New York.
