Ms. Amelia J. Leonard, Esq.

Amelia Leonard represents clients in a wide variety of cases concentrating the majority of her practice in consumer construction law (CSPA/HSSA), breach of contract litigation, employment-related disputes (including non-compete agreements), and Ohio’s Open Meetings and Public Records Acts. She has experience with drafting municipal legislation, defense of products and premises liability, insurance claims, OVI/minor criminal/traffic matters, and occasionally fills in as acting prosecutor for the City of Huron all while providing legal counsel to clients with regard to a variety of business transactions and legal issues.

Amelia is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky. She is a member of the, Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio Women's, West Shore, and Kentucky Bar Associations, and is active in the Women in Law section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where she serves as the 2015-2016 Chair of the Section.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in 1992 from Western Kentucky University, Amelia worked in a variety of businesses at various levels before steering her career toward her true calling, the law. In pursuit of her ultimate goal, she worked for a time at the Kentucky Court of Appeals and later for an insurance defense firm before beginning her studies at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. During her studies, Amelia interned for a Kentucky state appellate judge and also worked as a full-time law clerk at a mid-sized law firm. Amelia received her juris doctorate in 2011.

Before moving to Ohio with her husband in 2012, she worked at a medium-sized firm in Louisville, Kentucky, practicing in several legal fields including complex bankruptcy litigation, premises liability, and general litigation.
