Biography

Joanna Hair helps her clients tell their own stories in their own words. She makes sure the insurance companies hear what injured workers have to say. As an active listener, Joanna strives to understand each and every client, and she knows there is no one-size-fits-all approach to representing the rights of injured workers in workers' compensation claims.

Before she began representing injured workers, Joanna previously represented employers and insurance companies in matters of workers' compensation. After years of hearing the difficult stories of injured workers and witnessing the reactions of insurance companies to individuals who were harmed simply by doing their jobs, Joanna decided she wanted to help these individuals and ensure they were heard.

Joanna graduated magna cum laude from Agnes Scott College, with a double major in English Literature and Political Science, as well as a minor in Piano Performance Music. While there, she was involved in numerous music ensembles, was active on Tower Council, and was inducted into Sigma Alpha Iota.

Joanna attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, which she attended on a prestigious academic scholarship. There, she was a senior editor of The American Journal of Trial Advocacy, a law journal in which she was also a published author. She earned the Scholar of Merit Award in Employment Law and in Securities Regulations. She was also named to the Dean’s List every semester.

Immediately following law school, Joanna served as law clerk for Chief Judge Albert B. Collier of Clayton County Superior Court.

She has published numerous articles on workers’ compensation matters and has been asked to speak at many events regarding the same.

Outside of her legal interests, Joanna is a lover of good food, good music, and good conversation. She enjoys cooking, hiking, camping, and all things Broadway. An avid reader and wordsmith, Joanna completes the New York Times crossword puzzle daily. She lives with her wife, a high school science teacher, and their menagerie of rescue dogs, near the historic Marietta Square.
