Biography

Kimberly Charter was born in Virginia but spent most of her childhood years in Dallas, and currently resides in Wylie, Texas. As an adolescent she was drawn to speech, persuasive writing, and helping others through volunteer work. After high school, Kimberly attended the University of Texas and obtained degrees in government and history. Kimberly’s undergraduate coursework piqued her interest in legal studies, and she enrolled at St. Mary’s University School of Law.

Desiring to make a difference, Kimberly joined St. Mary’s Center for Legal and Social Justice as a research assistant and student attorney for income qualified individuals. While acting as a student attorney, Kimberly gained real life experience in all aspects of case-handling, including interviewing clients, drafting legal documents, and attending court hearings. In addition, Kimberly acted as supervising attorney over the Social Security division of the Civil Justice Clinic. She also served as Vice President of the Family Law Association and received the Pro Bono Leadership Award.

With her degree in hand, Kimberly took a job as an insurance defense attorney, handling personal injury lawsuits. Kimberly gained significant litigation and trial experience while working as a defense attorney. After years of defense work, Kimberly came to realize that she wanted to help give injury victims a voice against powerful insurance companies. She took a job at a personal injury firm representing plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice lawsuits. Kimberly quickly learned that fighting for the underdogs was her true passion.

Since joining Thompson Law, Kimberly has focused on representing clients involved in personal injury, auto accidents, general negligence, work injury, pedestrian accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, slip & falls, and dog bite cases. Kimberly passionately represents clients and has a proven track record of favorable results. She is motivated to pursue justice for her clients and is a zealous advocate on their behalf.
