Since 1991, I have represented thousands of individuals in Social Security disability claims. I understand that my clients are real people facing serious disabilities, often during the most difficult periods of their lives. My work is focused on helping clients achieve financial stability and maintain access to essential health care. Assisting clients in obtaining the benefits they need to support themselves and their families is work I find deeply meaningful and rewarding.
I have extensive experience with Social Security requirements for Special Needs Trusts and a strong record of obtaining approval for trusts that have been wrongfully denied. I draft Special Needs Trusts designed to protect eligibility for critical public benefits, including health care and income support programs, while preserving financial resources for individuals with disabilities.
In addition to Social Security disability matters, I assist individuals with private and employer-sponsored long-term disability claims. I have also testified as an expert witness in California courts on Social Security disability law and disability benefits.
I earned my law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Valley Community Legal Foundation. I am a member, and former board member, of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), and a member of Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD), organizations of attorneys dedicated to advocacy and providing high-quality representation for individuals with disabilities.
I frequently lecture for the State Bar of California, NOSSCR, and other bar associations on Social Security disability law, public benefits, and related issues affecting individuals with disabilities. My honors and awards include the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Hon. Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Award, the Myer Sankary Lawyer of the Year Award, the American Bar Association’s Difference Makers Award for Pro Bono Service, and NOSSCR’s Service Award.
I am a Board of Director for the Valley Community Legal Foundation. My past leadership roles include serving as president of the San Fernando Bar Association; a Trustee, and chair of Social Security section, for the Los Angeles County Bar Association; and past chair of the Executive Committee of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar of California, Boards of Directors for San Fernando Community Mental Health Services and Neighborhood Legal Services.
