Ms. Philomena Hausler

After spending 18 years working as an archaeologist in southwestern Alaska, Philomena Hausler switched careers and became an attorney. She began her legal career in 2006 with a judicial clerkship at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2006-2007) followed by a judicial clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida (2007-2008). When she completed her federal clerkships, Ms. Hausler moved to New Mexico to enter private practice, focusing on Indian Law. She later transitioned into civil defense litigation on behalf of state and local governments. She has argued several cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in litigation involving federal civil rights claims and federal preemption claims. Although Ms. Hausler has spent much of her legal career representing government defendants, she has also worked as represented plaintiffs with civil rights and personal injury claims in federal, state and tribal courts. Ms. Hausler has also worked as an Assistant City Attorney in the City of Albuquerque’s Employment and Labor Law Division.
