Biography

Nabilah Hossain is a Partner at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy LLP, specializing in complex civil litigation.Nabilah’s representative matters include prosecution of claims against PG&E related to the Kincade and Dixie wildfires as well as a claim on behalf of the Fire Victim Trust in a derivative case against the former officers and directors of PG&E, securing $117 million for the Fire Victim Trust, in addition to cash and stock valued at $13.5 billion. She also handles consumer class action claims against corporations such as Tesla and insurance companies.Nabilah currently serves on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the In re Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 302 Crash cases, venued in the Northern District of Illinois, arising from the crash of a defective Boeing 737 MAX commercial aircraft outside Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in March 2019.Prior to joining the firm, Nabilah was an Assistant District Attorney at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where she was a member of the Homicide and Sex Crimes Units. Nabilah developed her trial and litigation skills in the eight years that she was a criminal prosecutor. She has prosecuted cases such as murder, sexually motivated assaults, conspiracy, perjury, burglary, fraud, identity theft, and other violent crimes. Nabilah has tried 19 trials to verdict. Nabilah earned her J.D from Brooklyn Law School and her undergraduate degrees at New York University. During law school, Nabilah completed externships with U.S Magistrate Judge Robert Levy in the Eastern District of New York, the U.S Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York, and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to law school, Nabilah worked at Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith in its Global Markets and Investment Banking-Equities Compliance division.Nabilah was selected from attorneys nationwide to be a member of the American Association for Justice’s 2023 Leadership Academy, a program which provides training to highly qualified and talented members to help make them more effective leaders in their law firms and their communities. Nabilah also sits on the board of the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association, which seeks justice for all by preserving and protecting the constitutional right to trial by jury for individuals in San Mateo County.Nabilah has been recognized as a Northern California “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine. She is also a frequent lecturer on topics including trial advocacy, evidence, and trauma informed interviewing.
