Biography

Nathan J. Olson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in the Midwest. He now lives in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Olson focuses his practice solely on family law matters including divorce; property division; custody, support and visitation matters; protective orders; and adoptions. Mr. Olson strives to provide thoughtful, practical, and zealous representation while being mindful of client costs.   Mr. Olson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from the University of Tulsa in 1999. In his senior year, he traveled to London, England for a study abroad program, where he interned for Sophie Rhys-Jones, the Countess of Wessex. After graduation, he worked in Wellington, New Zealand before attending law school.   Mr. Olson earned his Juris Doctor degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 2006. Mr. Olson was the Vice-Justice of the Moot Court Board, a Legal Writing Fellow, and a member of the Civil Rights Law Journal.   Mr. Olson began working for Cooper Ginsberg Gray, PLLC as an intern through George Mason’s Domestic Relations Legal Clinic. He also clerked for Cooper Ginsberg Gray, PLLC before joining the firm as an associate attorney in the fall of 2006. Mr. Olson is a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar’s Young Lawyers Conference and a member of the Fairfax Bar Association. He is also an adjunct professor at the George Mason University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is licensed as a Guardian ad Litem for children. Mr. Olson was selected as a 2013 Virginia Rising Star by Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine.   In addition to his legal career, Mr. Olson is a published author of children’s books. He has authored more than thirty non-fiction books which appear in school libraries throughout the country.
