Biography

Nick Pieri is an associate in the firm’s Real Estate and Hospitality practices. He works on a broad range of real estate and hospitality matters across the UAE, including its multiple offshore free zones, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the wider region. Nick has wide-ranging experience advising key stakeholders of the real estate and hospitality market, including asset owners, investors, developers, operators, regulators, and lenders across a multitude of transactions, including the acquisition, development (including off-plan), financing, operation, branding, leasing, licensing, and disposal of property. Nick also has experience advising developers in respect to the structuring, strata titling, and governance of master communities and jointly owned developments.

Experience

Real Estate Experience

• Advised a UAE sovereign wealth fund on multiple acquisitions and disposals, including the sale of plots in Dubai and mixed-use developments in Abu Dhabi, and the acquisition of a grade-A office tower in the ADGM.°

• Advised an Abu Dhabi developer on the proposed acquisition of a portfolio of commercial assets and plots in Abu Dhabi valued at approximately AED 1.3 billion.°

• Advised a UAE sovereign wealth fund on the leasing of commercial, F&B, and retail units across its extensive property portfolio.°

• Advised an Abu Dhabi master developer on the regeneration of a port in Abu Dhabi, including on the appointment of a development manager and the grant of development leases to tenants.°

• Advised an Abu Dhabi developer on the structuring and governance of an island master community, including drafting the community management documentation.°

• Advised the ADGM Registration Authority in respect of its real property legislative framework, including by drafting new regulations to regulate off-plan sales and development projects and by amending the existing body of real property regulations to address the jurisdiction’s expansion into Al Reem Island.°

Hospitality Experience

• Advised an Abu Dhabi developer on the appointment of Hilton to brand and operate its flagship luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi under the Waldorf Astoria brand.°

• Advised an Abu Dhabi developer on the appointment of Hilton to brand and manage 100+ branded residences on Yas Island under the Waldorf Astoria brand - including advising on the subsequent sale of the branded residences.°

• Advised a European luxury hotel operator on a new five-star ultra-luxury hotel and branded residences project being developed in Dubai.°
