Biography

Nicola joined Whitelaw Twining as an associate in 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Nicola worked at a regional firm in Calgary, where she practiced insurance defence, commercial litigation, and employment law. Nicola now practices general insurance litigation with a focus on property damage and subrogation. Nicola thoroughly enjoys working with her clients and seeks to find creative and practical solutions to resolve their legal problems.

Nicola has appeared on behalf of clients in matters before the Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench in Alberta, as well as the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Nicola’s passion for litigation began while she was at law school. Nicola volunteered with Student Legal Assistance and Pro Bono Students Canada, where she provided legal support to low income individuals and advocated for them in Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench. Nicola also participated in the 2018 Bowman National Tax Moot, where her team placed second.

Before becoming a lawyer, Nicola worked as a business advisor at a Vancouver based non-profit, where she helped small businesses and entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of business startup. This background helps Nicola connect with her clients, understand their needs, and efficiently resolve their issues.

In her spare time, Nicola enjoys traveling, playing tennis, cooking, walking her dog, and spending time with her husband and daughter – Nicola especially enjoys playing a competitive game of cribbage or backgammon against her husband.
