Nigel Beckmann: Attorney with Whitelaw-Twining

Biography

Nigel joined our team in 2000. He practices general insurance litigation, primarily in personal injury defence, and leads our Defamation and Abuse Litigation groups. He finds creative solutions for clients in claims involving anything from occupier’s liability to nuisance to defamation. Meticulous preparation and strategizing have been the keys to Nigel’s success. He has extensive trial experience, appearing many times in the Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia.

Nigel is passionate about educating clients, peers and trade groups on his areas of expertise. He has run information sessions for CBA members, CDL and others on topics like the Health Care Cost Recovery Act, liquor host liability and ethics in insurance litigation. He also provides free legal advice at Pro Bono Clinics operated by Access Justice.

Before becoming a lawyer, Nigel spent four years in Japan where he worked for BC’s Council of Forest Industries. He spends his free time with his two sons and goes fishing, skiing and motorcycling whenever he can.
