Biography

Nils de Wolff is a senior arbitration lawyer and commercial and corporate litigator with deep experience in high-stakes, cross-border disputes in London and Dubai.

With a practice focused on M&A disputes, shareholder and joint venture disputes, internal investigations, civil fraud, and economic tort claims, he has built a reputation for managing some of the most high-profile and challenging cases in the field.

Nils has handled complex litigation before the English Courts, the courts of major international financial free zones (including the DIFC Courts and ADGM Courts), the onshore UAE Courts, as well as major domestic and international arbitration proceedings (including under the DIAC, LCIA and ICC rules).

Before joining Greenberg Traurig, Nils was at a major international law firm in Dubai, where he has been based since 2019. Prior to that, he worked at a specialist disputes firm in London, managing complex regulatory investigations and representing clients in large-scale litigation and arbitration matters, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe.

Representative Matters

• Represented a DFM listed company before the ADGM Courts in relation to cross border civil fraud proceedings in excess of US$100 million including securing worldwide freezing injunctions.°

• Represented a Saudi listed company in LCIA arbitration proceedings arising under joint venture agreements concerning a strategic investment in Eastern Europe.°

• Represented a UAE property developer in DIAC administered arbitration proceedings arising out of the completion of a major residential property development.°

• Acted for a global IT company in the Levant in relation to a BVI IAC administered arbitration claim brought by a shareholder alleging unfair prejudice.°

• Acted for a major fast foods chain in relation to the termination of franchise agreements and closures of over 200 stores across the Middle East.°

• Defended a global industrial and metals company in English Court proceedings arising in connection with a multibillion-dollar dollarization transaction.°

• Advised a global technology operator on a dispute concerning the termination of energy contracts in the Levant.°

• Represented a metallurgic group in various LCIA arbitrations concerning joint venture and financing arrangements for the construction and operation of a copper mine.°

• Defended a private equity firm and its founding members in a misappropriation of profits claim in excess of US$200 million before the English Courts.°

• Advised a group of investors on potential claims in excess of US$65 million against their financial advisors with respect to alleged omissions and misleading statements in information memoranda.° °The above representations were handled by Mr. de Wolff prior to his joining Greenberg Traurig Limited.
