Biography

O. Yale Lewis III, a distinguished legal professional, earned his B.A. in literary studies, cum laude with honors, from Middlebury College, Vermont. He furthered his academic pursuits with an M.S. in journalism from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York and a J.D. from the University of Washington. Throughout law school, Mr. Lewis showcased his scholarly prowess by contributing to law review, where he published two articles, one of which secured first place in the prestigious writing competition sponsored by the American Indian Law Review.

As a father and native son, Mr. Lewis's roots trace back to Bainbridge Island. His formative years involved diverse experiences, including time spent in Vermont, Alaska, Maine, New York, and Idaho, engaging in commercial fishing, commercial diving, and journalism. Returning to Seattle, he found solace in activities such as skiing, rock climbing, and mountaineering in the North Cascades and beyond during his leisure time.

With nearly two decades of legal experience, Mr. Lewis is a seasoned litigator in family law and Indian law matters. His active presence on the family law motions calendar in King County, along with appearances in superior and tribal courts statewide, underscores his commitment to providing comprehensive legal solutions. Mr. Lewis annually takes on up to three cases, facilitates multiple mediations and arbitrations, and adeptly handles appeals.

Admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, USDC W. Dist. Wash., USDC E. Dist. Wash., and various tribal bars in the State of Washington, Mr. Lewis operates as a sole practitioner.
