Biography

Octavian Mitu is a Staff Attorney practicing in the Firm’s Pharmaceutical Products and Toxic Torts & Products Liability groups. He has experience drafting and reviewing responses to complaints and, as a member of the discovery team, his responsibilities include legal research and writing, drafting written discovery, and other tasks relating to the defense of mass tort claims in complex litigation. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Mitu worked on large-scale document review, including FTC/DOJ second request productions, class action litigation, and disputes in binding arbitration.

During law school, Mr. Mitu served as Law Clerk to Commissioner Sharon Y. Bowen of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission where he provided advice to the Commissioner on a broad range of proposed and final Commission rules implementing the Dodd-Frank Act. He also worked as a Legal Intern for the U.S. Department of Labor, Civil Rights Center, where he worked with the Office of Compliance Director to develop a statistical and analytic model to be used by American Job Centers for compliance.

Mr. Mitu received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center where he was a founding staff member of the Georgetown Law Technology Review Journal. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
