Biography

Oleksii Izotov is an associate in the International Arbitration practice in Greenberg Traurig’s London office. Oleksii focuses his practice on international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. He has experience advising private companies, state-owned entities and sovereign states in arbitrations under the Rules of UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, ICSID, GAFTA, FOSFA, and ICAC at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Oleksii has worked with clients from a range of sectors, including energy, oil and natural gas, infrastructure, agriculture, banking and financial services.

He also has a strong background in sports law disputes, having represented football clubs and athletes in arbitrations before the Court of Arbitration for Sport and FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber. Oleksii currently serves as a panel member of the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the Ukrainian Association of Football - a standing body responsible for the resolution of contractual disputes involving Ukrainian football clubs, players, coaches, and agents.

Experience: Representative Matters: Representing a South American national oil company in a $120 million UNCITRAL arbitration arising from a contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of a semi-submersible oil and gas production platform and related standby letter of credit.; Representing a Caribbean energy company in a New York seated ICC arbitration related to claims worth over USD 100 million brought in relation to the construction of LNG regasification terminal.; Representing a German industrial gases and engineering company in two parallel HKIAC arbitration proceedings in connection with the suspension of gas supply and processing plants projects in Russia in the context of international sanctions.; Advised a Balkan State in an ICSID arbitration regarding the termination of a mining concession.; Advised a major Italian contractor in an ICC arbitration under a FIDIC contract concerning a dispute with Ukrainian state agency arising from a road infrastructure project in Ukraine.; Represented a Ukrainian bank in a Singapore seated ICC arbitration arising out of an English law-governed bank guarantee.; Represented a major German manufacturer of oil and gas drilling equipment in arbitration before the ICAC at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a dispute arising from a contract for the delivery and installation of oil drilling rigs in Ukraine.; Represented a UK-based global commodity trader in a FOSFA arbitration arising out of a contract for the delivery of sunflower oil.; Represented a Ukrainian commodity trader in a GAFTA arbitration against a Swiss buyer arising out of a contract for the sale of corn on DAP basis.; Represented a Ukrainian football club in proceedings before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber concerning a contractual dispute with a former player.; Advised a Ukrainian football club in proceedings before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber and the Court of Arbitration for Sport concerning a sporting succession dispute.; The above representations were handled by Mr Izotov prior to his joining Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
