About Attorney Awards

Biography

Paul Downes is a respected trial attorney who combines a client-centered philosophy with recognized legal skill to successfully represent a wide range of personal injury clients. Paul is a Certified Civil Trial Law Specialist, a certification program administered by the Minnesota State Bar Association and approved by the State Board of Legal Certification. Certified attorneys have successfully completed numerous jury trials and demonstrated superior knowledge, skill and integrity. This achievement has been earned by fewer than 3% of all licensed Minnesota attorneys. Before joining SiebenCarey, Paul successfully built the personal injury law firm of Meyer & Associates with Helen Meyer, another prominent personal injury attorney who served as a Justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court. At Meyer & Associates, Paul developed a highly personalized level of client service while providing outstanding legal representation. In 2002, he joined SiebenCarey as a partner. Paul was appointed by the MN Supreme Court to serve on the No-Fault Standing Committee. This 12 member committee is selected by the Supreme Court and members serve a four-year term overseeing implementation of the No-Fault law in Minnesota where approximately 5000 no-fault arbitrations occur each year. Most recently, Paul was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2018 in the field of Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation. Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Paul was also named to the 2017 Super Lawyers annual list, another award determined by his legal peers. He has appeared on this list for more than 10 years. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum recognized Paul in 2006. This honor is presented to lawyers who obtain million dollar verdicts for their clients. Paul has served on the Board of Governors for the Minnesota Association for Justice and has lectured frequently at local, regional and national legal seminars. He is active with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, mentors law school students, and is a coach for youth sports. Paul is one of our most accomplished personal injury and wrongful death trial attorneys in Minneapolis, helping victims of defective products, vehicle accidents, and other injuries.
