Paul Marshall Phillips

Paul M. Phillips is a distinguished legal professional with a robust academic background and extensive experience in various facets of law and finance. He obtained his law degree from Seattle University School of Law and holds a Master of Science in Finance from Seattle University, Albers School of Business. Additionally, Paul is a CFA charterholder, showcasing his commitment to excellence and proficiency in the financial domain. His foundational education in finance began at Hawaii Pacific University, where he earned his BS/BA degree.

With a rich and diverse career, Paul has made significant contributions to the capital markets landscape. Notably, he played a pivotal role in shaping the U.S. Covered Bond market, being instrumental in the launch of the first-ever U.S. Covered Bond transaction through Washington Mutual in 2006, later evolved into the renowned JP Morgan Covered Bond Programme. His adeptness extended to the management of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and the formulation of innovative structures to raise Tier-1 regulatory capital using REIT structures.

Paul's professional journey spans several years in institutional portfolio management, structured products, and mortgage trading. His formative years in Tampa, Florida, laid the groundwork for a career marked by dedication and accomplishment. Prior to his legal career, Paul proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Hawaii. His exceptional performance during Operation Restore Hope earned him the Navy Achievement Medal for his invaluable contributions to Command Center Operations, Marine Forces Pacific.
