Payton J. Schroeder

Payton Genis first joined Leeseberg Tuttle in January 2022 as a law clerk during her second year at Capital University Law School, and she remained with the firm through graduation. In November 2024, she officially joined the team as an associate attorney. Payton’s practice centers on medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation, and she is known for pairing determined advocacy with empathy, patience, and compassion for the people she represents. While at Capital Law, she served as the founding president of the Tort and Injury Law Society and worked as an Education Manager for the National Plaintiffs’ Law Association. She also earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Intellectual Property, recognizing the highest grade in that course. Before law school, Payton graduated from Creighton University with a B.A. in Advertising and Multi-Media/Photojournalism and worked from 2018 to 2021 as a creative copywriter at Meredith Corporation in Des Moines, writing direct mail copy for publications such as People, Magnolia Journal, and Entertainment Weekly. During the COVID pandemic, she began studying for the LSAT after work, which led her to Ohio, Capital Law, and a legal career focused on helping others. Outside of work, she enjoys true crime documentaries, exploring Columbus with her fiancé, and spending time with her two corgis.
