Peter Francis Finnerty

Peter Finnerty is a personal injury attorney at Sweet James Accident Attorneys who spent nearly two decades as a Deputy District Attorney for Orange County—including years as a Senior Deputy in the Sexual Assault Unit handling Sexually Violent Predator prosecutions—before bringing that same tenacious advocacy to plaintiff’s personal injury work. He is admitted to practice in California and focuses on personal injury.

Peter earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, a Master of Laws from Georgetown Law Center, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Orange County Celtic Bar Association. His career also includes complex litigation, class action defense, and tax work, and he has conducted trainings for the OCDA Prosecutors Academy, the California District Attorneys Association, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, and various Orange County colleges and law schools. He was awarded the OCDA Certificate of Excellence in 2016 and received Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Diligent Prosecutor Award in 2008.
