Peter Lockhart Schoening

Peter Schoening is a dedicated family law attorney who combines analytical precision with deep compassion to guide clients through often challenging transitions. He began his legal career in technology licensing, intellectual property, real estate, and corporate law. Peter quickly found a deeper calling in family law – where he could work directly with individuals to provide clarity and support during some of the most personal and pivotal moments of their lives.

Raised in rural Montana by a psychologist father and a marriage and family therapist mother, Peter developed an early understanding of relationships, communication, and emotional resilience. That background informs his thoughtful and empathetic approach to legal advocacy, helping clients feel heard and empowered throughout their case.

Peter ensures his clients have a clear understanding of their rights and options, so they can make informed decisions with confidence. He balances zealous advocacy with professionalism and patience, and is known for his thorough preparation, persuasive legal writing, and ability to navigate emotionally complex situations with care. Peter strives to help clients achieve their goals both inside and outside the courtroom, building strong, evidence-based arguments while maintaining a balanced and respectful approach to conflict.

Peter earned his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Whitworth University and his J.D., cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law. He scored in the top 10% of examinees on the Washington Bar Exam and was admitted to practice in 2023.

Outside of work, Peter enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, running, skiing, attending concerts, and watching movies – usually accompanied by his partner, Andrew, in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
