Biography

Phillip “Reed” Martens is a shareholder and trial attorney with Monsees & Mayer, P.C., focusing his practice on catastrophic personal injury and sexual abuse litigation throughout Missouri, and Kansas. Through the firm’s offices in Kansas City, Springfield, Branson, and St. Joseph, Reed represents clients in complex litigation involving serious injuries, wrongful death, and institutional abuse.

Reed has extensive experience representing survivors of sexual abuse and child sexual abuse, including boarding school abuse, church abuse, camp abuse, abuse in the home, physician-patient abuse and institutional negligence claims. He aggressively pursues accountability against organizations and institutions that failed to protect children and vulnerable individuals from abuse and exploitation.

His practice also includes catastrophic car accidents, truck accidents, serious injury litigation, wrongful death cases, and product liability matters. Reed is known for meticulous preparation, strategic litigation, and compassionate representation while helping clients navigate some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.

Beyond the courtroom, Reed is actively involved in survivor advocacy and legal education, regularly presenting on civil sexual abuse litigation and legislative issues impacting survivors’ rights and access to justice in both the Missouri and Kansas legislatures.
