Biography

Rebecca L. Gray is a co-founding partner of Harwell Gray Legal Counsel LLC and a seasoned criminal defense attorney with over a decade of experience in both prosecution and defense. Her career reflects a deep commitment to justice, strategic litigation, and client-centered advocacy.

Rebecca earned her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., where she served as Associate Editor of the Public Contract Law Journal and competed in the Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. Her legal education in the heart of the nation’s capital laid the foundation for her rigorous approach to advocacy and her passion for defending constitutional rights.

She began her career as a prosecutor at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, one of the largest prosecutorial offices in the country. There, she held multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Chief of DUI/Traffic, overseeing the prosecution of all misdemeanor DUI cases in Miami-Dade County. Rebecca trained incoming prosecutors, led high-profile cases—including those involving law enforcement and public figures—and collaborated with agencies such as MADD to shape policy and community outreach.

After relocating to Indiana, Rebecca transitioned to defense work, serving as a trial and appellate attorney for multiple public defender offices. She has represented clients in all levels of felony cases, from Murder cases to petty theft. She has conducted complex investigations and argued appeals before the Indiana Court of Appeals. She has a reputation for thorough preparation and strategic resolution.

As co-founder of Harwell Gray Legal Counsel LLC, Rebecca plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s mission: delivering aggressive, results-driven advocacy to clients facing high-stakes criminal charges and post-conviction challenges. Her prosecutorial background gives her unique insight into how the state builds its case—insight she now uses to dismantle those cases in defense of her clients.

Her approach is grounded in empathy, precision, and relentless advocacy. Whether in trial, on appeal, or in negotiations, Rebecca Gray is a trusted legal ally who brings clarity, confidence, and compassion to every case.
