Biography

Reginald “Reggie” B. Smith practices before the U.S. Court of the Eastern District of Texas, as well as state courts across Texas. Reggie has extensive experience in the courtroom handling a broad range of subject matters. His current primary practice areas are family law and general civil litigation.

Reggie currently serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives representing District 62, which is comprised of three northeast Texas counties. He also serves on the Texas House Appropriations Committee and the Texas House Judiciary/Civil Jurisprudence Committee where he has handled a number of significant legislative reforms regarding the use of DNA testing samples in felony criminal matters.

Reggie also serves as Chairman of the Red River Boundary Commission by way of a Gubernatorial appointment from Texas Governor Greg Abbott and as a member of the Texas Judicial Council by way of appointment from the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives.

Locally, Reggie previously was recognized as the “Best in Texoma” in the field of Family Law for three consecutive years by the publishers of the Sherman Herald-Democrat.

A graduate of Austin College in Sherman, Reggie was active in the school’s renowned Model United Nations Program, which, along with his academic record, earned him membership in the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society. He is a graduate of the South Texas College of Law.

Reggie is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Reggie is a member of several professional associations, including the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, and Grayson County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Judge Paul Brown American Inn of Court. Reggie is an active member in various local charitable organizations, including serving on the board of Big Brother Big Sisters, the local Boy Scout Chapter, The Rehab Center, and other civic organizations.

Reggie is the founder and owner of Reginald B. Smith, Jr. PLLC, which he established in 2003. He serves as “Of Counsel” to Siebman Law.

Reggie, his wife and 3 children are northeast Texas natives.
