Biography

Richard Allen Fillmore is a Partner in the firm’s Pensacola office where he handles litigation throughout the Florida Panhandle. His practice primarily focuses on litigation relating to the construction industry and construction defect claims. He has extensive experience representing architects, engineers, and contractors in the field. Additionally, Mr. Fillmore has a background litigating a broad range of insurance defense matters including wrongful death, catastrophic injury, premises liability, negligent security, motor vehicle and trucking accidents, class actions, medical malpractice, and other forms of complex litigation. He also has experience representing insurance carriers in bad faith litigation and coverage disputes. Additionally, Mr. Fillmore has represented clients as Lead Counsel in appeals to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Florida 1st District Court of Appeals, and the Florida Supreme Court.

Mr. Fillmore is a native of Pensacola, FL and attended the International Baccalaureate program at Pensacola High School. Upon graduation, He attended Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he earned an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. After graduation from Rollins, Mr. Fillmore took a position with the nation’s largest home developer, gaining an extensive background in real estate, construction, and development. After a seven-year career in real estate, he enrolled at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. While in law school, Mr. Fillmore received the book award in Appellate Advocacy and was the Scholar of Merit in Legal Process. He interned at the St. Clair County District Attorney’s Office where he tried numerous jury and bench trials under his Alabama 3L practice certification.

Prior to joining Cole, Scott & Kissane, Mr. Fillmore worked at a regional defense firm defending litigation throughout Florida.
