Biography

Richard Montes is a partner in the firm. Since joining MLN in 2003 he has litigated appeals in a variety of practice areas, including medical and other professional malpractice; construction; insurance coverage; personal injury; toxic tort; commercial; and matrimonial. He is a frequent lecturer on the revised New York CPLR Article 50-A for structuring judgments and has published in the areas of medical malpractice and litigation strategy. He is also the principal blogger for the New York Appellate Law Blog, MLN’s blog dedicated to providing the latest significant tort and insurance coverage decisions in New York’s Appellate Courts; cases which have been granted leave to appeal to the New York Court of Appeals; and other practice tips or information regarding appeals to New York's Appellate Courts. Mr. Montes is a former law clerk for the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, Justice Mel Greenberg of the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Justice Anthony Marano, Supreme Court of New York, Nassau County. From 2007-2009, he served as the Chairperson of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee. He is also the current President of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association
