Richard Suhrheinrich has been practicing law since 1992. He has been a member of the firm’s Lansing office since 1998-focusing his practice on medical malpractice defense litigation. His experience, however, extends to all types of commercial litigation, including healthcare fraud, medical staff privileging, insurance coverage and premises liability.
Mr. Suhrheinrich is licensed to practice law in Michigan and the U.S. District Courts of Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a former member of the St. John Providence Health System West Region Board of Trustees and the Brighton Center for Recovery Advisory Council. In 2013, Governor Synder appointed him to the Developmental Disabilities Council. In 2006, he was selected as a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He also currently serves as a Hearing Panelist on the Attorney Discipline Board and is a past Chairperson of the Professional Liability Section of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel. He has acted as an Adjunct Professor with the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Mr. Suhrheinrich is also a member of the American Inns of Court. In 2020, he become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America. In 2022, he was voted into the American Board of Trial Advocates. ABOTA is a prestigious nomination and invitation-only national group of attorneys that are committed to the preservation and promotion of the 7th Amendment that guarantees the right to civil jury trials. He was also recognized as a Leading Lawyer in 2021 and 2022. This recognition is based on a survey of their peers. Mr. Suhrheinrich was named a Michigan Super Lawyer in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Only five percent of the attorneys in the state are named Super Lawyers.
Mr. Suhrheinrich received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Indiana University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University.
