Richard Martell: Attorney with Janet, Janet & Suggs, LLC

Biography

For almost a decade, Rick Martell has focused his practice on representing those harmed by preventable birth injury and medical negligence. Serving clients nationwide, he has thus far litigated cases in 12 states and the District of Columbia. He prides himself in understanding all medical aspects of a case, using that knowledge to build the strongest case possible for his clients.

Rick also has familiarity with the other side of these cases, having spent five years as a defense attorney representing hospitals and physicians in a wide variety of medical malpractice scenarios.

In New York, Rick spent several years working with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office as a criminal prosecutor, trying many cases to verdict and writing appellate briefs on a wide variety of topics. Rick also clerked for the Honorable Michael E. Loney of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, where he drafted written opinions and worked on the drug court team.

During college and law school, Rick gained experience through clerkships and internships at the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore, and a Baltimore firm that handled federal criminal and civil cases.
