Biography

J. Robert Angstadt is a Florida native, Navy veteran, and graduate of the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law. Mr. Angstadt excelled in law school, graduating cum laude with a class rank of 37/310, earning a place on the Dean's List every semester. He was one of seven justices on the University of Florida Supreme Court, making up the judicial branch for the entire university. Mr. Angstadt was also the president of the Association for Law & Business, and a member of the Journal for Technology Law & Policy and the Student Recruitment Team. He was also a law school ambassador. While in law school, Mr. Angstadt honed his litigation skills as a competing member of the University of Florida Trial Team. He gained practical knowledge representing indigent clients as a Certified Legal Intern in the Family Advocacy Clinic, and as a judicial intern for Judge Nelly N. Khouzam with the Florida Second District Court of Appeal and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and as a law clerk at Kenny Leigh & Associates. Prior to law school, Mr. Angstadt served in the United States Navy. During his Navy career, Mr. Angstadt earned two Navy Achievement Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Operation Iraqi Freedom Medal, and two Good Conduct Medals. Mr. Angstadt earned a bachelors degree from Chapman University in Orange, CA and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University in Glendale, Arizona. Since graduating law school, Mr. Angstadt has practiced exclusively in family law. Mr. Angstadt’s own personal history is what drove him to law school and has made him passionate about protecting the rights of others in family law cases.  Some highlights of Mr. Angstadt's experience include: - Winning a trial gaining majority timesharing (custody) for a client who was previously only allowed to see his son a few nights every two weeks; - Winning a temporary relief hearing where the other party was seeking alimony, attorney's fees, thousands of dollars in back child support, etc.  Only future child support was awarded; - Winning an emergency motion hearing where the mother's new boyfriend was emotionally and psycholocally abusing the children.  The children left the courtroom with my client and moved out of state to live with him. - Getting 50/50 timesharing (custody) at a temporary relief hearing where the other party only wanted my client to have every other weekend; - Getting a Department of Revenue child support case, where the Department was seeking more than $10,000 in back child support, completely dismissed on procedural grounds. - Getting paternity disestablished (client learned he was not the father) within months after taking the case that had been stalled for four years; - Successfully defeated an attempt by the opposing counsel to get my client imputed income at his former wage for child support calculations; - Getting unsupervised timesharing at a mediation for a client who had never before spent time alone with the parties' child due to some past criminal issues; - Defeated a domestic violence injunction attempt in a "he said, she said" case, getting the injunction completely dismissed; - Defeated a domestic violence injunction on procedural grounds; - Successfully obtained a domestic violence injunction for a client who had been abused; - Defeated an attempt by grandparents to keep custody of a child that was fraudulently obtained; - Successfully got custody for my client (child's adult sister) in a 751 Temporary Custody by a Third Party Family Member case, rescuing the child from an abusive environment. - Winning an enforcement action where the opposing party refused to follow the parties' agreement to give my client 50/50 when he moved closer to the child's school.  My client got 50/50 and makeup timesharing in the summer. Although I pride myself as a trial lawyer, and will zealously advocate on my client's behalf, past results are not a guarantee of a future outcome.  Every case is unique.  Please speak with me for free prior to making a decision to hire me so I can evaluate your case.
