Biography

Rob has been practicing law since 1996. His practice includes such areas as municipal law, land use and zoning, partition actions, beer permits, personal injury, mental health matters, and real estate matters. Rob loves college baseball, and he also represents college student athletes in name, image, likeness negotiations with NIL collectives, sports marketing agencies, and businesses.

Rob’s experience as a former elected official allows him to bring a beneficial perspective to helping his clients see their case and how to communicate it to others. Rob was elected to Knoxville City Council in 2001 and reelected in 2005. He also served on the City of Knoxville Beer Board. He was term limited from office in 2009. In 2012, Rob was selected by City Council to be Special Counsel and Advisor to Knoxville City Council and its Beer Board.

Rob has been involved in real estate development projects that have been honored with Metropolitan Planning Commission Excellence Awards, Keep Knoxville Beautiful Orchid Awards, and awards from Knox Heritage. In the past he has served as an advisor to candidates for offices in Knox County, Knoxville, and the Tennessee legislature.

Rob is a member of the Knoxville Bar Foundation. He’s been recognized by Legal Aid of East Tennessee for “Outstanding Public Service.” He was also named to the Greater Knoxville Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list of 40 business and community leaders under the age of 40. He has served as a mentor to high school seniors in the Tennessee Promise program. In the past he served on the pro bono committee and long-range planning committee at his church. In 2009, Rob was one of thirty-five attorneys in Tennessee selected for the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law initiative. He was also honored with the disABILITY Resource Center’s Community Leader Spirit of ADA Award. He was honored with the Friend of Fountain City Award in 2003 and Knox Heritage’s Citation for Preservation Leadership in 2001. He formerly served on the board of his former neighborhood organization for a decade and is a former board member of Knox Heritage as well as formerly serving on the City’s Historic Zoning Commission and the Mayor’s Task Force on Historic Preservation.

Rob received three Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Tennessee and graduated cum laude from the Tulane University School of Law.
