Biography

Robert D. Cheeley is the founding member and managing partner of Cheeley Law Group, LLC, with more than four decades of service to Georgia families affected by catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. A Georgia native, Mr. Cheeley graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia and earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1982. His career is marked by numerous landmark verdicts and settlements, including multi-million dollar victories against major corporations such as Johnson & Johnson, General Motors, Suzuki, and Toyota. Notably, he won a $150 million settlement for a defective vehicle case and a $105 million jury verdict on another high-profile matter. Mr. Cheeley is esteemed for his relentless pursuit of justice, professional leadership, and dedication to client advocacy. He is licensed to practice before all Georgia trial courts and several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Recognized with an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and honored as National Trial Lawyer of the Year by Public Citizen, Mr. Cheeley’s professional affiliations include active roles with the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
