Biography

Mr. Madigan joined Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP in 2002, is a Partner in the Firm and leader of the Firm's Real Estate Practice Group. Between 1978 and 1997 Mr. Madigan engaged in the general practice of law with the firm of Madigan & Madigan, with offices in Binghamton and Deposit, New York. Mr. Madigan's practice included litigation in local courts, Family Court, Supreme Court, Surrogate's Court, Court of Claims, Federal Court, and the Courts of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He also practiced in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, small business and corporate law. Mr. Madigan served on the Binghamton Civil Service Commission from 1989 to 1997, and served as Chairman of the Commission from 1994 to 1997. In April 1997, the Governor appointed Mr. Madigan to become Broome County's first member of the NYS Workers' Compensation Board. In April 2001, the Governor appointed him Broome County Family Court Judge.

Mr. Madigan is a member of the Broome County and New York State Bar Associations. He is a former member of Binghamton General Hospital Board of Managers, United Health Services Board of Directors, Broome Legal Aid Board of Directors and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Binghamton Housing Authority. He is currently Chair of the Board of Directors of the Southern New York Automobile Association (AAA), and a member of the Hancock Rotary, and Saints John and Andrew's Church.
