Biography

Robert L. Thompson is an Associate Attorney at Resnick and Louis’ Las Vegas office. His primary practice areas include general litigation, premises liability defense, automobile defense, and construction law. He has been practicing in Las Vegas for over a decade and a half where he developed numerous relationships with members of the legal industry, expert witnesses, medical professionals, mediators, and the courts. He utilizes his experience as part of an effective strategy towards winning cases and getting the best resolution for his clients. Mr. Thompson believes that communication is an often-overlooked aspect of litigation. This includes developing effective working relationships with the clients from the start of their cases, working with opposing counsel in a professional and courteous manner, and being straight forward with mediators and the judges on issues that are not negotiable while at the same time working in a professional manner to achieve the best result. At the end of the day, he believes good communication from the start of the case will carry over to trial where the goal is to persuade the jury to find in favor of the client’s position.Mr. Thompson got his start representing subcontractors in contract litigation during Nevada’s construction boom in the early 2000’s. He moved onto taking cases for automobile driver’s being sued by personal injury lawyers as well as business owners and casinos who find themselves involved in litigation for premises liability cases. Mr. Thompson has represented his clients effectively in all aspects of trial preparation from depositions, mediation, arbitration hearings, and, when necessary, taking cases to jury trial. Mr. Thompson continues to represent people and businesses to make sure their voices are heard in all matters of civil litigation practice.Mr. Thompson graduated from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa in 2005. During his time in law school, he participated in Drake’s Legislative Practice program gaining first-hand experience as a legal intern in the Iowa legislature, and the Iowa business lobby during the legislative session. Before moving to the Midwest to attend law school, he received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Mr. Thompson also proudly served as a member in the United States Coast Guard.Robert is licensed to practice law in the Nevada Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for Nevada, and the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
