Biography

Robert Carpenter is a seasoned legal professional with a strong educational foundation. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and went on to complete his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at DePaul University. With a dedicated focus on immigration law, Mr. Carpenter has built a noteworthy career representing both individuals and businesses in their interactions with the Immigration & Naturalization Service and the Department of Labor.

Robert Carpenter's expertise extends to a wide spectrum of temporary visas, encompassing H-1B1, L-1, E, F, J, and TN visas. He has a remarkable track record of securing hundreds of permanent visas, commonly referred to as "green cards," for individuals through family and work-based petitions, and through gaining approvals of asylum applications for those who face a well-founded fear of persecution.

Mr. Carpenter is an active federal court litigator in many venues across the United States, including in numerous federal Courts of Appeals. His practice, Carpenter & Capt, Chartered, has achieved success in many federal court cases in the past ten years, including precedent-setting cases involving marijuana convictions. These cases often revolve around issues such as unjustified delays and the government's inconsistent application of immigration law with regard to asylum and Convention Against Torture relief. His firm firmly believes in employing every available argument, including pursuing mandamus-based suits against the government when it fails to adhere to the rule of law or engages in unreasonable delays.

Beyond his legal work, Robert Carpenter is an engaged member of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, has served for a major non-profit as a Board of Director, and volunteered his time and expertise at a U.S. Army Base hosting Afghan arrivals in 2021. He also serves as a mentor for younger attorneys in the immigration field.
