Rosalyn Loomis has practiced family law in Hawaii for 32 years. After graduating from Hastings College of the Law in 1980, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Betty Vitousek, Senior Judge of the Hawaii Family Court, First Circuit. From 1981-86, she was an associate attorney with Case Kay & Lynch in Honolulu, practicing exclusively divorce and adoption law. From January 1986 through May 1996, she served as a per diem Family Court Judge in Honolulu and Maui. Since June 1996, she has been affiliated with Mancini, Welch & Geiger on Maui representing selected clients and mediating divorce matters statewide. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and in Honolulu Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Hawaii since 2011. In 2012, she was named Family Lawyer of the Year in Honolulu Magazine.
Ms. Loomis has earned a reputation for resolving family law matters out of court in a practical and resourceful manner within the boundaries of the law. She is a mediator for the Hawaii Supreme Court’s Appellate Mediation Conference Program and a Volunteer Settlement Master for the Hawaii Family Court. She has been a member of the Panel of Neutrals of Dispute Prevention & Resolution (DPR) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Ms. Loomis is a member of the ADR and Family Law Sections of the Hawaii and American Bar Associations, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (since 2005), and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has volunteered on Maui for the Kids First Program sponsored by the Hawaii Judiciary, contributed to the Hawaii Divorce Manual (4th & 6th editions) and has served on the Board of Directors for the Hawaii Justice Foundation (2 terms), the Pacific Cancer Foundation, Mediation Services of Maui, Maui Family Support Services, Hawaii Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and the Hawaii State Bar Association (Young Lawyers Division). Currently, she is a member of the Nominating Committee for the Hawaii State Bar Association, a hearings officer for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, a member of the 2013 Hawaii Child Support Guidelines Committee, an executive advisory board member for the Aloha Center for Transformational Ethical Leadership at the University of Hawaii Law School, and a Director of the Collaborative Divorce Hawaii Practice Group.
Ms. Loomis was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Punahou School in 1970; and with honors from Dartmouth College in 1974.
