Biography

Ryan Emery joined the Mackenzie Hughes firm in 2006. He is a member of the firm's business and estates department. In 2007, Ryan was admitted to practice law in New York and Florida.

Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in political science from Syracuse University in 2003. He continued his studies at Albany Law School of Union University and graduated summa cum laude with a Juris Doctorate in 2006. Upon graduating, Ryan received the Frank M. Patterson Prize for highest standing in Contracts and the Cameron-Danaher Prize for highest combined standing in the subjects of Evidence and Civil Procedure.

While a law student, Ryan worked as a summer associate for a local law firm and as a summer law clerk for a firm in Albany. In college, Ryan worked as a legislative aide for one session of the New York Assembly in Albany.

Ryan was also a member of the Albany Law Review and published an article entitled "Unwise and Unnecessary: Statutory Caps on Non-Economic Damages in Medical Malpractice Cases and the Appellate Review Alternative" which contained a comprehensive study of New York Appellate Courts' decisions on the amount of damages in medical malpractice cases.

Ryan is a member of the Aurora Board of Directors and serves as treasurer. He is also a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association and participates in their Volunteer Lawyer Project.
