In addition, he has experience representing those charged with federal crimes.Attorney Nassetta received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Connecticut and his J.D from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Prior to transferring to UConn to complete his undergraduate degree, Nassetta attended Assumption College where he played varsity hockey. During law school, Nassetta served as a Legal Aid Intern for the Columbus House Shelter in New Haven, CT, where he worked with clients on custody cases and misdemeanor charges. He also interned with the Division of Public Defender Services in New London, Stamford and New Britain, Connecticut. He currently lives in New London and enjoys snowboarding, running, and traveling in his free time.In a recent jury trial in Norwich Superior Court, Attorney Sam Nassetta’s client was charged with Operating Under the Influence. Attorney Nassetta argued that the defendant in this case had an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. The jury came back with a not guilty verdict within 45 minutes. In a significant legal victory, Attorney Samuel M. Nassetta successfully defended his client against serious charges, including Strangulation in the 2nd degree, Risk of Injury to a Child, and Assault in the 3rd degree. During the weeklong trial, both the Norwich State Office and Nassetta relied heavily on expert testimony. The state called an expert in strangulation and Nassetta presented expert testimony in both strangulation and forensic pathology. After just 42 minutes of deliberation, the jury returned a not guilty verdict on all counts, exonerating Nassetta’s client and underscoring the importance of thorough defense in the face of serious accusations. In March of 2025, a jury aquitted a Navy Command Master Chief represented by Attorneys Sam Nassetta and Bryan Fiengo. “Everything was riding on this verdict,” Nassetta said. “Our client would not have remained employed. There’s no doubt he would have gone to prison.”Also in 2025, Attorney Nassetta secured a not-guilty verdict for a Ledyard chiropractor accused of a felony cruelty allegation. Attorney Nassetta said that this accusation unfairly tarnished his client’s reputation for years. Calling the trial “a relationship dispute turned criminal,” Nassetta said the matter should have been resolved in family court rather than through felony prosecution. A New London Superior Court jury acquitted the chiropractor.Attorney Nassetta has been recognized by Super Lawyers ®as a “Rising Star” in the area of criminal defense; no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state are chosen for this honor.
