Biography

Samuel S. Shapiro is a dedicated criminal defense attorney with over four decades of experience. Born in Danville, Illinois, he earned his B.A. from Indiana University in 1976 and his J.D. in 1979. Sam began his legal career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Morgan County, Indiana, in 1978, gaining valuable insight into the prosecution's strategies, which he now leverages to build strong defenses for his clients.

Sam has been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer annually since 2007 and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer rating for legal ability and ethics. He is an active member of the National College for DUI Defense and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Sam has made significant contributions to Indiana law through appellate work and oral arguments before the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Supreme Court.

In addition to his legal practice, Sam has served as Secretary of the Monroe County Bar Association and as a board member of the Monroe County Youth Shelter.
