Biography

Sarah Ertle is an Associate at Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP, where she defends the Firm’s client doctors, hospitals, health care systems, and other medical professionals against various types of medical malpractice claims

Before joining MCB, Sarah worked as a medical malpractice defense associate at both a well-known regional firm and a national firm, where she represented hospitals, physicians, and insurers in medical malpractice litigation, including OPMC investigations. Her responsibilities included conducting legal research; producing clients for depositions; deposing witnesses; advocating orally during court hearings and conferences; performing detailed case analyses to assess success and validate claims; and drafting motions, including motions for summary judgment, and settlement documents.

Sarah received her B.A. in International Relations-History from Wellesley College in 2016, where she was captain of the sailing team. She received her J.D. from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law in 2020, where she was captain of the Texas Young Lawyers Association National Trial Competition Team. She received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Research, the James K. Hoenig Judicial Clerkship for the Promotion of ADR in Family Law, and the Eleanor Silvers Cohen Fellowship in Human Rights and Juvenile Justice. She also volunteered as a Domestic Mediator at the Mediation Center of the Pacific.

Sarah is a member of the New York State Bar Association and enjoys serving on its Women in Law Section’s Legislative Committee. She is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
