Biography

Scot joined Coughlin & Gerhart in 2002 and is a Partner in the firm. He strictly limits his practice to the areas of Social Security Disability/SSI, Workers’ Compensation, and Long-Term Disability. Scot has more than 25 years of experience handling SSD/SSI cases, and over 20 years of experience with NYS Workers’ Compensation.

As a seasoned Social Security disability lawyer, Scot has over 25 years of experience helping individuals apply for Social Security Disability benefits, and over 20 years of experience representing injured workers with New York State Workers’ Compensation claims.

Scot handles SSD/SSI and NYS Workers’ Comp cases from inception through conclusion, including appeals, if necessary. He handles Social Security hearings in New York State, Pennsylvania, and nationwide. Scot has also won SSD benefits for U.S. citizens who are expats, including obtaining benefits for clients in Mexico, Greece, and Italy. He handles Social Security appeals before Administrative Law Judges, the Appeals Council, and in Federal Court. Scot represents clients in NYS Workers’ Compensation cases throughout New York State.

Outside of his practice, Scot enjoys cooking, hiking, practicing yoga, and occasional travel.
