Biography

Scott Cain Scott Cain is a general practice lawyer with an emphasis on corporate matters and complex business litigation. Scott was born and raised in Cleburne, Texas. After graduating from Cleburne High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts from the Criswell College in 1989. In 1999, Mr. Cain received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.

During law school, Mr. Cain was a member of the Phi Delta Phi honorary legal fraternity, and served as an Editor for the Texas Wesleyan Law Review, treasurer for the Student Bar Association, and as a traveling member of the moot court team.

Mr. Cain is licensed to practice law in Texas by the Supreme Court of Texas and in federal courts in the Northern District of Texas. He is a member of the Texas, Johnson and Tarrant County Bar Associations. He has extensive civil jury trial experience and has handled numerous bench trials and appeals.

Mr. Cain is active in many local and state civic activities. He has served on numerous boards of directors including the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce, the Cleburne Pregnancy Center, Johnson County United Way, Wakeboard Church, the Cleburne Economic Development Foundation and several city boards. He frequently assists organizations such as the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Johnson County Children's Advocacy Center, Cleburne High School Swim Team and numerous churches throughout Johnson County.

As a state champion wakeboarder, he coaches an area wakeboard team and promotes wakeboarding events for underprivileged children. He works with children and teenagers in various other sports, including soccer and has taught adults and teenagers in Sunday School classes. He believes that effective representation also involves community service.

Mr. Cain is a litigation and appellate lawyer, general practice lawyer and a certified mediator. His practice consists of all areas of civil litigation, appellate law, oil and gas, corporate, probate law, real estate, and condemnation with a focus on commercial litigation and real estate.

Mr. Cain was elected Mayor of Cleburne in 2012 and was selected as Johnson County's #1 lawyer in 2010, 2011 and 2012 by the Cleburne Times Review Reader's Choice Poll and is AV-Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
