Scott D. Walters: Attorney with O'Connell West, PLLC

Biography

Scott Walters is the definition of a "Soldier Lawyer." His journey didn’t start in a law library; it began in the dirt as an enlisted combat engineer and an infantry platoon leader. That boots-on-the-ground experience stayed with him even after he earned his law degree from Tulane and re-entered active duty as a JAG officer in 1997. Over a remarkable 26-year career, Scott served on six continents and navigated multiple combat deployments, eventually becoming one of the most experienced military justice practitioners in the entire Department of Defense. He has been on both sides of the courtroom, serving as both a prosecutor and defense counsel for everyone from Privates to Lieutenant Generals. Now at O’Connell West, PLLC, Scott uses that deep insider knowledge to defend clients facing UCMJ actions and administrative hurdles. He knows exactly how the military builds a case because he spent decades advising commanders at the highest levels. When he isn’t fighting for service members, Scott is usually in his garage restoring classic cars. It’s a hobby that requires the same patience and precision he brings to his legal work. If you’re looking for someone who understands the weight of the uniform and the complexities of military law, Scott is the seasoned warrior you want in your corner.
