Born in Puerto Rico to a resilient Cuban family, Sergio’s story begins with his parents fleeing Cuba after their family farm was seized by the Castro regime. Determined to rebuild their lives, his father instilled in him an unshakable work ethic and a profound respect for education—teaching Sergio early on that knowledge is power.

While his siblings chose careers in medicine, Sergio was drawn to justice and the law, becoming the first lawyer in his family. But his path wasn’t just professional—it was personal. As a child, he endured the trauma of a painful divorce, separated from the father he loved. That experience left a deep scar and shaped his life’s mission.

Sergio made a solemn promise to himself:

“If I ever become a lawyer, I won’t let what happened to my family happen to anyone else.”
