Biography

Shannon Simpson is the firm’s Managing Partner and an experienced trial lawyer. Ms. Simpson practices in all areas of matrimonial and family law matters, advising in high net worth and ultra-high net worth matters and is a vigorous advocate on behalf of her clients.

Ms. Simpson has negotiated successful settlements on behalf of clients and assisted clients as they proceed through mediation. When necessary, she has litigated numerous complicated financial and custody matters through to trial, including matters garnering national and international attention.

Ms. Simpson advises Family Offices on the application and potential application of matrimonial law to the administration of multi-generational family trusts and on the benefits of a prenuptial agreement for members of the second and third generations and beyond.

Ms. Simpson lived in London for two years (2016 - 2018) and frequently advises on matters with multi-national matrimonial issues, including in Europe and Asia.

Ms. Simpson is a Diplomate of The American College of Family Trial Lawyers as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Ms. Simpson is recognized by Chambers in the category of Family / Matrimonial: High Net Worth - New York.

Ms. Simpson is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Family Law Section) and an active participant in the New York Women’s Bar Association Pro Bono Matrimonial Law Project.

Ms. Simpson is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Estate and Gift Tax Committee and a former member of the Matrimonial Committee. Ms. Simpson has co-presented “A Woman’s Roadmap to the Detours of Life” to Bloomberg and Sirius Radio, as well as “Helping Your Clients Through Divorce” at the 2019 Barron’s Women Summit, “Why You Should Care About Matrimonial Law Even if You’re Not a Matrimonial Lawyer” at PLI and NYCLA, and “The Art of Divorce” at Sotheby’s Auction House.

Ms. Simpson is on the Board of Advisors of the Family Law Network at the University of Virginia School of Law and has participated in family law lectures at the University of Virginia School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Ms. Simpson is a member of the Committee of the Chief Judge of the State of New York for the restoration of the historic Harlem Courthouse and coordinates the firm’s participation in the Patrons program of the Lincoln Center Theater. Ms. Simpson is a member of the University of Pennsylvania Parents Council and the Parents’ Committee of the Taft School, where she and her family have endowed the Speaker Series.
