Shareholder Gretchen Jennie Burgess

While most legal processes are prescribed by court deadlines, estate planning is accomplished at a client's own pace. Gretchen Burgess appreciates that aspect of her specialty, as it allows her to guide the way from initial information gathering through every option and decision. Trust and estate law is all about loved ones, legacies and life's work, and Gretchen brings genuine compassion and human connection along with forethought and deep experience in the law. Some clients know what they want to do with their estates, while others may struggle with decisions. Gretchen is there for them all, making the process and plan as clear and simple as possible. She works with clients to plan estates or review and make changes to their existing plans. Gretchen also helps guide and counsel families with probate and administration issues. With strong connections to farming, Gretchen works closely with family farmers on succession and legacy plans. She shares the deep pride and honor of area farmers and works to keep operations strong and viable with partnerships, operating agreements, and succession planning – both now and in the decades to come. Gretchen also offers solutions for real estate clients. She holds a Wisconsin real estate broker license and works with a variety of businesses, farmers and homeowners, helping to negotiate, manage and close transactions and solve issues with experience and efficiency. Gretchen and her husband live in Whitewater with their 7 year-old son and 5 year-old daughter. She has coached for the Janesville Figure Skating Club, is conversant in Japanese, and makes custom glitter tumblers and custom decorated sugar cookies as hobbies. She is also President of the board of directors for Big Brothers - Big Sisters of South Central Wisconsin and on the boards for Blackhawk Technical College Foundation, CASA Rock County, and Rotary Botanical Gardens.
