Biography

Shari Lee Sugarman, founder of Sugarman Law, is known for her intelligent, direct, and respectful approach to complex litigation, real estate transactions, home loan modifications, and foreclosure protection. Clients benefit from her commitment to being accessible and having open, honest communications.

Today, Sugarman Law concentrates in real estate law, loan modifications, litigation and corporate transactions. But Shari Lee Sugarman relies on her diverse legal background in her approach to current cases, including her expertise in banking and bankruptcy litigation, construction litigation, mediation, corporate dissolution and employment law. Before founding Sugarman Law, Shari was with reputable firms such as Torre, Lentz, Gamell, Gary & Rittmaster, LLP and Lamb & Barnosky, LLP.

Shari obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Rivier College in Nashua, NH before receiving her Juris Doctor from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College. She shares her knowledge and experience with the community through several outreach and mentoring projects. Since 2010 she has mentored high school students in Islip Terrace, NY as well as law students at her alma mater, Touro College, where she also sits on the Touro Law Center Alumni Council. Notably, in 2012 Shari was honored with the annual Women of Great Esteem Emerald Award for her volunteer efforts with women and children and her leadership role in the New York community.

An active board member of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association, Shari currently serves as the chapter delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, where she works to continuously shape legislation and public opinion on a statewide basis. There she also volunteers with young attorneys, serving as a mentor.

As President of the organization from 2010 to 2011, Shari co-chaired a groundbreaking program with the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association entitled “Ready, Set, Lead: Empowering Women in the 21st Century.” The program aired on Cablevision Public Access Television for several years.

Shari’s varied involvement in statewide lawmaking and local community efforts keeps her at the forefront of legal developments.
