Shawn A. Johnson joined Burford Perry in 2017 and focuses his practice on business litigation and appellate law. He has handled a variety of issues for his clients, including complex oil and gas litigation, commercial real estate disputes, and securities-law issues, from the infancy of litigation to appeals.
A 2016 summa cum laude graduate and valedictorian of the inaugural class of the Texas A&M University School of Law, Shawn’s innate legal acumen is exemplified not only by his academic success in law school but also by his experiences and accomplishments outside the classroom. During law school, Shawn served as Managing Editor of the Texas A&M Law Review and as a law clerk for judges in the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas and the Supreme Court of Texas. After graduation, Shawn moved to Austin to clerk for the Supreme Court of Texas in the chambers of Justice Paul W. Green.
Shawn attributes his success to the work ethic and experience he gained before law school. Shawn received an M.S. in Management Information Systems and a B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas A&M University, becoming licensed as a Certified Public Accountant shortly thereafter. Weeks after graduating, Shawn spearheaded the deployment of a grant management application to manage a $500 million grant program and directed the implementation of electronic vendor payment capabilities for the Galveston County Auditor’s Office. This experience allowed him to hit the ground running when he started at Deloitte, where he managed teams in the design, configuration, and deployment of security and controls solutions in global, enterprise-transforming system implementations. Shawn utilizes his academic and professional background in accounting, technology, and law to provide results for his clients.
Raised in Friendswood, Shawn is excited to be back in Houston, helping his community with their legal needs. He has been licensed to practice in all state courts in the State of Texas since November of 2016.
