Biography

Stephanie practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law on behalf of employers. She represents employers from a broad range of industries in litigating the entire spectrum of employment litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims. Stephanie also counsels employers concerning all matters pertaining to the employment relationship and employment law compliance. She provides day-to-day advice on employment matters, including investigations, discipline, and terminations. She also represents employers in government agency investigations.

Stephanie has experience preparing and opposing appeals before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and has argued before the California Court of Appeal. Stephanie recently had the privilege of having one of her cases go before the United States Supreme Court, where the Supreme Court affirmed the grant of summary judgment that Stephanie had achieved on behalf of her client. Stephanie was selected to the 2014-2020 Southern California Rising Stars list for excellence in the practice of law. She is conversational in Spanish, Hebrew, and Farsi.

Experience

Stephanie’s experience advocating on behalf of employers includes defending numerous employers of all sizes and from all industries and sectors in federal and state courts throughout California on claims alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wage and hour violations. She has been particularly successful in obtaining summary judgment, and regularly obtains favorable resolutions for the Firm’s clients. Stephanie has successfully compelled arbitration of individual claims and served as second chair in arbitrations resulting in awards for the employers. Stephanie has taken an active role in parsing the new COVID-19 rules and regulations for employers. She advises clients in setting up and updating their policies and procedures, and employee handbooks in line with new laws and regulations. Stephanie has several wins before the California Court of Appeal, affirming grants of Demurrer and Summary Judgment in the trial court, and recently had a Motion for Summary Judgment affirmed by the United States Supreme Court.
