Biography

Steve Shevorski represents clients in complex commercial and constitutional litigation matters across federal and state courts. His litigation experience includes cases involving myriad provisions of the United States and Nevada Constitutions, as well as statutory issues involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Bankruptcy Code, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. He has litigated appeals in both the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Nevada Supreme Court. His practice also encompasses real estate litigation, labor and employment law, and professional responsibility cases.

He previously served as chief litigation counsel and head of complex litigation for the Nevada Attorney General and has worked as a commercial and consumer financial services litigator for regional and national law firms.

• Lead counsel in a suit that successfully defended the jurisdiction of the Nevada Gaming Control Board against a challenge brought by a subject of discipline who jettisoned his ownership of a publicly traded licensee to avoid discipline.°

• Lead counsel in wage and hour collective action involving employees of the Nevada Department of Corrections.°

• Lead counsel for University of Nevada, Reno in suit alleging negligence in performance of controlled burn. Following 2-week jury trial, received complete defense verdict.°

• Lead counsel for the State of Nevada in a suit involving a Second Amendment and Fifth Amendment challenge to Nevada’s ghost gun law (AB 286).°
