Steven W. Rakow

Steven W. Rakow is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in both criminal trial and civil litigation. His criminal practice encompasses a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from minor traffic violations and DUIs to serious felonies, including murder, burglary, firearms offenses, and white-collar crimes. In civil litigation, Steve addresses issues from simple contract disputes to complex construction defect cases. His extensive legal acumen also extends to corporate matters, contract review, and general legal practice. Prior to his legal career, Steve served as a Marine officer for 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 2007. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1987 and earned his law degree from Chase College of Law in 1996. Active in his community, Steve has held leadership roles, including president of the Worcester County Bar Association and member of various legal committees. He was appointed by the governor of Maryland to the Board of Trustees for the Office of the Public Defender and serves as Chair of the Worcester County Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board.
